Scope of Position: 

The Manager of Origination will support the company's mission of developing, financing, constructing, owning, and operating solar projects. This position will be responsible for originating and managing commercial and utility-scale solar and solar+storage project opportunities across the Central and Midwest United States which are typically greater than 1 MW in size.  The person filling this position will be a consummate team player and be a self-starting, creative, and motivated individual who has a proven history of successfully developing energy projects.  This individual would thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment.



  • Identify, generate, and evaluate project development opportunities
  • Understand the incentives, tax environment, financing, and energy cost structure within their respective region
  • Develop, negotiate, and close Power Purchase Agreements with commercial, municipal, and utility clients
  • Assess development opportunities and to effectively communicate project plans, challenges, and necessary outcomes
  • Review and secure sites for solar projects within the region
  • Present the company and its capabilities, including options for project financing, to prospective clients
  • Prepare and deliver proposals and RFP responses
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of prospects and projects



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum three years of experience in solar project development
  • Ability to travel - Chicago or Minneapolis location a plus
  • Understanding of energy markets and renewable energy incentives


Working Conditions

Work time is spent in office environment utilizing computers, phones, and general office equipment, as well as visiting client sites/offices and potential solar installation project sites.  Frequent travel required across western U.S. and to groSolar offices (MD and VT). Site visits with varying terrain and weather conditions.
